Happy Halloween!
Today is a fun holiday, so why was I so worried,
when I told my husband to be careful going to his job in inner-city
Detroit this morning? Why did I need to bring mt black metal cat
decoration last night, to keep it safe from molestation? Why does the
City of Detroit need to have Angel Night curfews and patrols to keep
people from being violent and destructive? Why can't people just enjoy
the fun?
I have a cauldron full of candy ready for the
trick-or-treaters. I'm looking forward to having all the cute little
kids come around in their costumes. I can't see them very well, but
most are more than happy to tell me what they are. I'm especially
looking forward to my cousin bringing her two little girls to
trick-or-treat after school this afternoon. I know they made their own
costumes, and they're really good at describing things to help me see
them. They have first dibs on the candy cauldron, too.
I wish I
was going to see my own kids for Halloween, but they've been living with
their dad for the last three years. They tell me they'll all be
wearing Star Wars costumes this year. I really hope their dad will send
me some pictures of them. The older ones are too old to trick-or-treat
in their own right, so the teenagers will be going out to take their
younger brother and sister around their neighborhood.
